From Wilderness to Promise: Affliction Will Not Rise Again

“Lord, bless his possessions, and accept the work of his hands. Break the back of his adversaries and enemies, so that they cannot rise again.”, Deuteronomy 33:11 (CSB)

Before the Israelites crossed into their Promised Land, the place described as “flowing with milk and honey”, Moses gathered the tribes and spoke final blessings over them. These were prophetic declarations for a new season that, to this day, transcend generations.

When God brings us to the threshold of our new season, He desires that we enter it under blessing. Just as Moses spoke over the tribe of Levi, God speaks over us today:

Moses prayed, “Lord, bless his possessions, and accept the work of his hands.” God wants you to know that your labor will be fruitful. Your wilderness has been a season of survival; but know this, your Promised Land will be a season of harvest.

God blesses what you carry; your gifts, your work, your ministry, your family, your dreams… The word “accept” speaks of divine approval. When God accepts the work of your hands, He breathes His favor upon it, causing what once faced opposition to now flourish.

Moses then prayed, “Break the back of his adversaries and enemies, so that they cannot rise again.” This is a declaration that cycles of oppression and resistance will be broken. The same enemies that pursued you in your wilderness will not be permitted to follow you into your “Canaan”.

The “back (or loins in other translations)” symbolises strength and ability. The very nervous system and ability of the enemy’s power will be disabled. God does not merely grant temporary relief; He secures permanent victory.

“Affliction will not rise up a second time.”, Nahum 1:9

God’s deliverance is final. When He closes one chapter and opens another, He doesn’t intend for old afflictions to reappear. The fear, failure, or opposition that marked your past season has no authority in the next.

You are standing on the threshold of your new season, and these promises are yours right now:

  • God will bless your possessions, making your hands productive and your path prosperous.
  • God will accept your work, placing His divine approval on all that is done in obedience.
  • God will protect what He blesses, ensuring that the afflictions of the past will not rise again.

The Israelites didn’t just enter a new land; they entered their destiny. It was a place where God’s promises were active and His protection enduring. In the same way, your next season is not merely about change, but about the fulfilment of your destiny.

Prayer

Father, thank You for bringing me to the threshold of a new season.
I receive Your blessing over my life, my work, and my household.
Let every old affliction, fear, or resistance fall away.
As I step into my Promised Land, let Your favour go before me,
and may Your peace guard all that You have entrusted to me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
