He Goes Before You, Consuming What Stands Against You

Psalms 97:3 (TPT)
“All around him burns a blazing glory-fire consuming all his foes.”

Psalm 97 opens with a declaration of Kingship: the Lord reigns, and everything around Him responds. The clouds, the darkness, the lightning, the mountains; all of creation trembles at His presence. And in verse 3, we find this stunning picture: a blazing glory-fire going before Him, consuming every foe in His path.

This is the consuming nature of who God is. God’s glory does not negotiate with what opposes it. It consumes. What stands against you, stands against Him. And His fire goes before you.

The Hebrew word here points to the fire of God as His advance guard. He goes before you. The blazing glory-fire clears the path. This is the God you serve: a King who marches in front, whose very presence dismantles what the enemy has constructed in your way.

Think about what this means for the battle you are in right now. The obstacle that looks immovable. The opposition that seems coordinated and relentless. The resistance that has been pressing against your destiny, your family, your calling. His fire is already at work in what you cannot yet see.

God goes before you. He is still the One who shows up in fire. He is still the consuming King. And every foe; every lie, every delay, every assignment of the enemy against your breakthrough, falls before Him.

Your breakthrough is assured. Stay in step with the One who has already gone ahead.

Declaration

I declare that the Lord my God goes before me in blazing glory-fire. Every foe that has risen against me; every lie, every delay, every assignment of the enemy against my life, my family, my calling, and my breakthrough; falls before His presence.
I will not be consumed by the battle. I will not retreat at the threshold of my victory.
And I will not put out the fire of the Holy Spirit within me.
I welcome His gifts. I honour His voice. I refuse to scorn what He is speaking and doing in this season. I will not grieve Him by dismissing what He has lit.
The same fire that goes before me burns within me. I steward it. I yield to it. I let it purify, ignite, and advance everything He has ordained for my life.
The enemy cannot stand where God has already been. I follow the fire. I walk behind the King who marches before me. I carry His fire wherever I go.
Every obstacle is consumed. Every opposition is dismantled. Every path He has ordained is cleared.
I move forward, in the authority and the name of Jesus.
