God Promises Your Preservation in Times of Trouble
May 7, 2026Psalm 34:19 (TPT)
“Even when bad things happen to the good and godly ones, the Lord will save them and not let them be defeated by what they face.”
The wilderness can make even faithful people question God’s faithfulness. Pressure, delay, resistance, and repeated hardship can slowly wear down the soul until suffering starts feeling like abandonment. But Psalm 34 reminds us that the Lord Himself preserves believers through every battle.
This was Jeremiah’s struggle in chapter 15. The prophet had grown weary and discouraged, allowing hopelessness and suspicion toward God’s faithfulness to take root in his heart. Before God strengthened Jeremiah against his enemies, He first dealt with the “worthless” within him. God called Jeremiah to return, cleanse his heart from unbelief, and separate truth from despair. Only then did God reaffirm His favor and calling over Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 15:20 (TPT)
“They will fight and attack you, but I will make you as strong and secure as a fortified wall of bronze. They will not conquer you, for I already have! I am with you to deliver and rescue you,” declares Yahweh.
It is easy to miss the profound statement hidden within this verse: “They will not conquer you, for I already have.” The Lord had “conquered” Jeremiah, freeing him from his fears, doubts, disappointments, and distrust. Therefore, no external enemy could ultimately conquer him. God requires full surrender. We must trust in His perfect plan no matter the struggle.
A fortified wall of bronze is only formed through surrender and refinement. God strengthens those who yield fully to Him. When He conquers the unbelief, fear, and hopelessness within us, He establishes something unshakable in us. The battles may still come, but they no longer define us. Those fully surrendered to God become unconquerable to the enemy because they stand secured, sustained, fortified, favored, and upheld by the presence of the Lord Himself.
