God Releases His Power as You Walk in Obedient Faith
July 15, 2026John 10:27 (LSB)
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;”
Moments of disappointment, deep frustration, and weariness can create a strong desire to act impulsively. Emotions can persuade us that resistance means it is time to move on, or that every difficult season requires immediate change. At other times, fear of change can convince us to remain long after the Lord has begun directing us elsewhere.
Neither impulse is a trustworthy guide.
The Lord calls His people to be led by His voice. Before making a significant decision, bring your heart before Him. Quiet every competing voice. Lay every offense, fear, ambition, and expectation before Him. Wait until His peace, His Word, and His voice establish your path.
When God Calls You to Move
There are seasons when God completes His purpose in a place and calls His people onward. Abraham left his homeland. Israel left Egypt. Elijah left the brook when it dried up. The disciples left their nets. Moving at the Lord’s direction becomes the doorway to the next assignment.
When the Lord says, “Go,” trust that He has already prepared the next assignment. Stepping forward is an act of obedience.
When God Calls You to Stay
There are also seasons when God firmly plants His people in difficult places to preserve, influence, and bear witness. Daniel remained in Babylon. Joseph served faithfully in Egypt. Jeremiah stayed with Judah. Through steadfastness, God displays His wisdom, power, and faithfulness.
When the Lord says, “Remain,” staying is an act of obedience. Deep roots produce lasting fruit, and faithful endurance often becomes the platform for God’s greatest work.
The Call to Discern
The two contrasts are both found throughout Scripture. Both are expressions of obedience when they are directed by the Lord. There is a grace to remain, just as there is a grace to move on. The grace for each is found in hearing and following His voice.
Never lean on your emotions in the heat of battle. Listen carefully for His still, small voice. Search the Scriptures. Pray. Wait upon Him until His direction becomes clear, and remain in His will.
When He says, “Go,” walk forward in faith. When He says, “Remain,” stand firm with confidence. His direction leads you into your destiny.
Walk in obedience to His direction, stand firm in faith, and watch as the Lord faithfully prepares the way before you by His mighty power.
